Artist in Residence

The Cube Colony is an exhibition & maker space dedicated to its members and providing emerging and established artists opportunities to share their work.

The Cube Colony's Artist In Residence program is an opportunity for artists to take time away from their routines and really dive into the creative process. Artists will have their own studio with basic amenities. Our studios are ideal for individual artists but collaborating artists will be considered. Please understand that the studio may not be conducive to multiple artists so please feel free to contact us directly with any questions before submitting your proposal. Artists working in all media are encouraged to apply. Bear in mind we do not have kilns or workshops on site. We will try to make all necessary accommodations for artists whose endeavors are congruous with our space. All accepted artists will participate in at least one solo or group exhibition. We encourage artists to offer a lecture or at least say a few words in conjunction with the exhibition to share their experience with the public as well. All applicants must be at least 18 years or older.

There are a variety of artists that have their main studio space at the Cube Colony. The artist residency program provides an opportunity to connect with these local artists and to schedule studio visits with Tucson artists as well.

The studio space is currently being offered at no cost to accepted applicants. Artists are responsible for their own travel fees to the residency, housing and transportation in town. We have one apartment at our sister venue available for $350 for a 2 week residency and $600 during a 4 week residency. This space is less than 10 minutes away by car or bus which is available on a first come first serve basis.

To apply, please email your proposal to ajrsolan@gmail.com

Include your Bio, Artist Statement and contact information. Submissions will be accepted on a rolling deadline until spaces are filled.  If you have any questions, please email the program coordinator Athena Solan at ajrsolan@gmail.com
